TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 2025–26 SEASON UPDATE
Tottenham Hotspur enter the final stretch of the Premier League season in 18th place with 31 points from 33 matches, sitting just outside safety with only a handful of matches remaining.
Spurs are currently on a 15-match winless run in the league, following a 2–2 draw against Brighton on April 18. Prior to that, a 1–0 loss away at Sunderland marked the beginning of this final stretch under new leadership.
With roughly five matches remaining, Spurs remain within reach of survival, but results elsewhere mean the margin for error is now extremely thin. A strong finish will likely be required to secure Premier League status.
Spurs Headlines
New Era Begins: Roberto De Zerbi Appointed Head Coach
Tottenham appointed De Zerbi on March 31, making him the club’s third manager this season. He arrives during one of the most challenging periods in recent memory, tasked with guiding Spurs through the final matches of a difficult campaign.
Relegation Battle Comes Into Focus
Spurs remain in the bottom three and are now chasing results rather than controlling their own path. Results around them have tightened the table, with safety still within reach but increasingly dependent on both Spurs performances and outcomes elsewhere.
Squad Update
There is at least some encouraging news on the fitness front. Rodrigo Bentancur returned to the squad for Brighton after being out since January with a hamstring injury that required surgery, and Yves Bissouma was also fit again for that match. James Maddison is back in training as he continues his recovery from the serious knee injury he suffered in the summer, and he was included in the matchday squad against Brighton for the first time this season.
Not all of the news is positive. Cristian Romero will miss the rest of the season with the knee injury he suffered at Sunderland, and Guglielmo Vicario remained unavailable after hernia surgery as of the Brighton match.
Player Focus
Xavi Simons gave Spurs one of their brightest moments of the month against Brighton. He scored the side’s second goal in the 2-2 draw, was voted the club’s Player of the Match by supporters, and said afterward that the players could feel the atmosphere inside the stadium. For a team fighting for every point, that kind of performance and connection with the crowd matters.
Pedro Porro also got on the scoresheet in that same match, heading Spurs into the lead before halftime. It did not end with the win everyone wanted, but it was another reminder that there is still quality in this squad and still something to build on in these final weeks.
Reasons for Belief
Roberto De Zerbi has been clear that he still believes this team can fight its way through the final stretch, and the mood around the squad has centered on togetherness and mentality. Reuters reported that De Zerbi organized a team dinner to help lift morale, while the club’s own coverage around Brighton reflected the same message: players returning, younger players like Lucas Bergvall making an impact, and signs of more life in the performance level.

Closing Note

The results may not be where we want them, but the connection to Spurs remains steady. These final matches will test the squad, but they also bring an opportunity to show resilience, belief, and pride.
Thank you to everyone who continues to show up, and share in these moments together. However the season finishes, the strength of this community is something we carry forward.
