Spurs at the World Cup
It was a memorable World Cup for Tottenham’s international players. Twelve members of the Spurs squad represented their countries during the tournament, with ten advancing beyond the group stage.
There were plenty of moments for supporters to celebrate. Lucas Bergvall became Sweden’s youngest-ever World Cup player, Djed Spence helped England reach the semi-finals, and Cristian Romero scored during Argentina’s run through the knockout rounds. Pedro Porro was one of Tottenham’s standout representatives, scoring his first two international goals against Austria and France—the latter helping Spain secure its place in the final. Porro also earned himself Player of the Match for the Semifinal against France.
Congratulations to Pedro Porro and Spain, the 2026 FIFA World Cup champions! Pedro started at right-back as Spain defeated Argentina 1–0 after extra time in the final. Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, securing Spain’s second men’s World Cup title. Although it was a difficult ending for our Argentine Spurs representatives, we are proud to have seen three Tottenham players involved on football’s biggest stage. Most of all, we are delighted for Pedro as he returns to North London a world champion after an outstanding tournament.
A New Season and a New Direction
The beginning of a new season always brings hope, but this summer feels especially significant. Roberto De Zerbi is preparing for his first full campaign as Tottenham’s head coach, and the squad around him is already beginning to look different.
Spurs have welcomed a strong collection of new arrivals, including Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke, Martin Dubravka, Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. The group brings a blend of Premier League experience, international leadership, technical ability and younger talent.
Transfers alone do not guarantee results, but there is good reason for measured optimism. We are looking forward to seeing how the new manager’s ideas take shape, how the fresh faces settle into the squad and whether Tottenham can build momentum and climb the Premier League table. There will undoubtedly be challenges along the way, but a new season offers the opportunity for meaningful progress.
Player Spotlight: Archie Gray
Our spotlight this month belongs to Archie Gray, who earned all three of Tottenham’s fan-voted Player of the Season awards for 2025–26. The versatile 20-year-old joined Spurs from Leeds United in July 2024 and quickly demonstrated his ability to contribute in midfield and across the defensive line. After making 46 appearances during his first season in North London, Archie added another 34 appearances last season and was selected as Player of the Season by Official Supporters’ Clubs, One Hotspur Members and Junior Members. His composure, flexibility and willingness to take responsibility have made him an important part of the squad, and we are excited to see the next step in his development under Roberto De Zerbi.

This month marks a special milestone for Arizona Spurs: our 12th newsletter edition and the first anniversary of the Arizona Spurs Update. Over the past year, these newsletters have helped us share club news, celebrate, and stay connected through every high and low of the season. Thank you to everyone who has read, contributed and supported each edition. We are proud of how this newsletter has grown, and even more grateful for the community behind it.

The Premier League returns on August 22 with a London derby away to Brentford. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back to Fibber Magee’s for the beginning of a new campaign.
Opening day is always special. It is the first opportunity to see the new manager, new players and returning squad come together in a competitive match. More importantly for us, it is another chance to fill Fibbers with familiar faces, welcome new supporters and begin another season together.
Please check the Arizona Spurs calendar before leaving for the match, as kickoff times remain subject to change.
